HOME-SCHOOL PROGRAM
2009-2010

HERITAGE ACADEMY welcomes first through sixth grade homeschool students on Wednesday and Friday mornings to take science, writing, and Latin classes. Kindergarten homeschool students are welcome two or three days each week to participate in all activities offered, or may attend during two or three mornings each week.

Part-time students are considered members of the
HERITAGE ACADEMY student body and may participate in afterschool activities and all extra-curricular activities (e.g. Christmas Pageant, fieldtrips, etc.).

Students come at 8:30 for opening prayer and go home at 12:00, or may stay for lunch from 12:00-12:30. Kindergarteners may stay until 1:30 on their chosen days.

Science: Core Knowledge Curriculum,
Delta Science
Writing:
Step Up to Writing (K-3), Institute for Excellence in Writing (4-6)
Latin:
Sing Song Latin (1-3), Logos Latin (4-6)

Students attend classes for the aforementioned subjects and are responsible for class work and homework assigned at
HERITAGE ACADEMY for these subjects. Teachers offer help and support as needed. The school does not provide any other curriculum for home-schoolers, nor does it provide a home-school umbrella for families.

"HERITAGE ACADEMY has been a great experience for us and the kids. It has been great to be a part of a school community with shared values in placing Christ at the center of our children's education and to have other adults invested in the character development of our kids. The twins have loved the social aspect of gathering in a classroom with peers, and it has given them an opportunity to learn within a structure and with different time limits and expectations. The two half-days have been perfect for us, and the subject matter covered has been perfectly complementary to what I do at home. Right now, I can't think of anything that I would want to be different!"
